Montreal, April 8, 2015 – Today, Fondation Émergence unveils, in partnership with the National Bank, the theme and visuals for its 2015 campaign to fight homophobia and transphobia, which highlights the crucial role of allies in the personal development of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals.

The unveiling of the visual components marks the launch of the annual campaign run by Fondation Émergence, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. In addition, the International Day Against Homophobia, which culminates on May 17th, now includes trans realities and bears the name International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. Under the theme “Allies Show Their Colours”, the campaign’s visuals show an ally offering support to an LGBT individual. In this poster, the supporter is represented by a man supporting a trans woman. Other versions will also be available.

“This year, our awareness campaign recognises the important contribution made by allies in the lives of all LGBT individuals. We all know a relative, a co-worker or a friend who contributed, in one way or another, to our self-development. A more inclusive society will allow sexual diversity to find its rightful place,” explained Martine Roy, President of Fondation Émergence.

Supporting the campaign
Fondation Émergence is counting on the participation of the public to make the 2015 International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia a success by proudly bearing the title of Ally. The organisation heartily encourages the public to disseminate the communication tools, not only in the digital media, but also in the workplace and at schools. These tools include posters, a pamphlet and one mini-poster, all offered in French and English, as well as in print and digital formats. The digital posters are provided in 20 languages.

An activity guide available on the website provides a range of ideas to encourage organisations, companies and individuals to take part in the fight against homophobia and transphobia.
